Raven Simone in YSL RTW Fall 2008

Source: Style.com and Lipstick Alley

Designers generally ignore the full figured ladies when it comes to sizing but Raven does her best to pull off this YSL look. I think shortening the dress a bit and dumping that awful corset style belt would have been an improvement. She just looks so pinched and uncomfortable.

I like the length, however the corset does have to go.

Looks like she's trying with her wardrobe... Although I love her, most times I have to scratch my head at her styling choices.

It would have fit her much better if they left the original neck line or used darting around the bust, instead of the corset. your correct she does look uncomfy.

DRESS ACCORDING TO YOUR SIZE

CLUELESSNESS is the greatest crime.

unfortunately that dress doesn't fit her, she should have just gotten it altered to fit her body instead of trying to squeeze into it.
I don't think desigers are that bad, a lot of them go up to a size 14 (marc jacobs etc), but yes if you are beyond that it does get complex.

Is that actually a belt or just the way her top closes at the bottom? It's the same color as the dress in the second picture, but then it's a separate garment in the third. Maybe it's just me, but I keep thinking that she looks like Paula Abdul with more meat on her bones.

She's young and this is trial and error time. It's the only way she will truly learn what works for her. This look does not. Raven seems like a lovely young woman and she needs the time and space necessary to grow up and understand who she is.
